1. Who do you think the primary and secondary target audience is for 'The Woman in Black'? Why?
The primary audience is who the distribution companies are trying to target therefore, looking at the
demographic hollywood quadrant I believe in this case it would be both female and males under the age of 25. Considering this movie is rated 12A, it instantly indicates that the distributors are targeting young teenagers, the prime of horror audience.
The secondary audience are potential consumers who could be attracted so this could range from females and males above the age of 25 looking for that scare factor.

2. How was 'The Woman in Black' marketed? (Think about genre(s), subgenre(s), media platforms, target audience, promotions, size of campaign, etc).
This film was promoted through various media platforms. In conjunction with the primary target audience, social media was a main outlet for information and competitions regarding the run up to the films release getting the audience excited and ready for the years scare craze. Posters were also about advertising the film showing Daniel Radcliffe which would entice many of his fans from Harry Potter to his other roles in films to be interested in the film. As well as this, many newspapers mentioned about the film which the secondary audience would perhaps be more noted to looking at as you don't see many young people choosing to buy and look and newspapers due to the demand of social media. Of course many of the main characters would have promoted the film through talk shows and interviews and there own media platforms to gain attention towards the movie.

3. Do you think the marketing materials for the film were appropriate? Why?
Yes, I think the marketing materials were appropriate as the mass advertisments and introduction to the films  hopeful scare factor made for a huge profit and success in the film industry itself. They researched correctly to make sure that the target audience and there likes and dislikes as well as there main use of communication was widely avaliable for the announcement and information about the film.

4. What kind of release did the film have? (big/small? How many cinemas showed the film on its release?)
The film had a big release and in the opening weekend of its release, the film was showed on 412 screens in the UK. It was mentioned across many different media platforms, getting the high demand and excitement for the film.

5. How much did 'The Woman in Black' cost to make? (production budget) AND what was the industry impact of 'The Woman in Black' (Think box office and trends).

The budget for the film was $17 million (approximately £14 million). The total domestic gross worldwide came to $127,730,736. It has been listed as the most successful horror film in British history. Much of its money was spent on advertising however this ended up being the right decision as they gained huge success. As it is part of the hammer horror productions, you would also expect them to be more motviated and influenced by this film to continue producing and distributing other films, knowing there success before and the best possible strageties to compete against other releases and gain a hige profit.

6. Why do you think the film was so successful? (You must come up with at least two reasons)

I believe this film was a success due to its casting director selecting popluar actors in the industry none for there roles in other films and charm such as Danial Radcliffe. With his age and huge success already in his career, he is known widely around the world and back when this film was produced, not many people would have expected him to play the role in a horror film. Secondly, the film was announced broadly in newspapers, social media and radio so of course, it is going to get noticed and with its rating of 12A, many young teenagers are able to have the opportunity to see this horror film that many reporters and writers are crazing about unlike other horror films were they could be rated at 15 or even 18.
