Production Diary

Day 1:
The first draft of the group synopsis was planned and written. We initiated various ideas and compiled them together. Could be edited later, new ideas may be introduced but a rough idea was made. Next lesson, brief Olivia on what we've decided and start to think about who will play what character.

Day 2:
During this lesson, we gathered further ideas for the trailer and completed the synopsis. We had to sort problems and issues that may occur during the filming, making sure everything could be done through the location and the significance of the ring. We also decided on a location for the main area which also influenced many ideas for the title of a film. We also compiled ideas for a poster in later production. Lastly, we completed the key scenes and finalised the character names. Next lesson we will be doing the shot list.

18/11/16
Today we watched a series of different horror film trailers. While watching these horror trailers we had to choose three which we believed would be a good one to stem from and gather inspiration from. One of them includes the 2013 horror film “Carrie” linking the film to our own idea having two main girls for our film idea and having a lead girl in theirs. This lesson we had to pick at least 3 trailers which we could stem ideas from yet we only have the film yet.
Next lesson we will be discussing shot planning for our horror trailer deciding which scenes should be included in the trailer which will give viewers and idea about what the movie is about but not too much that it spoils it.

22/11/16
Today we decided on our trailer shot list, discussing the order and location of where our trailer will be film. We also discussed and made notes to explain how our previous research helped us when it came to coming up with our idea. This includes our genre research, representation, audience and institutions and finally media language. Writing a paragraph on each.

In this lesson we gathered our research for our questionnaire responses after creating it and sending it out to various people. We looked at the data and came to some finalised some of it and also found out some interesting information. We plan to look at this data further and create our blog post for it.

06/12/16
In this lesson we each individually did pieces of work ready for posting on the blog and planning processes helping us initiate further ideas such as props and camera angles etc. We have also started filling out various sheets regarding permission of the minor or adult to be able to be filmed as well as locations needing permission by the owner for legal purposes.
